Treasurer / Finance & Compliance Director (Volunteer)

Beneath and Beyond is a nonprofit committed to advancing educational equity for underserved and minority high school students through early intervention, mentorship, advocacy, and support. Our work centers around amplifying student voice and addressing systemic barriers within schools.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Treasurer / Finance & Compliance Lead to join our founding team. This volunteer will help manage our finances, track donations and expenses, and support our compliance with 501(c)(3) and tax requirements.

• Maintain clear and accurate financial records

• Prepare monthly or quarterly financial reports

• Oversee the budgeting process and support grant budgets

• Track donations and generate simple donor acknowledgments

• Support 501(c)(3) application and IRS compliance (e.g., Form 990-N)

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial policies

• Advise on basic financial systems or tools (e.g., spreadsheets, Wave, QuickBooks)

• Background or interest in accounting, finance, tax, or nonprofit operations

• Organized and detail-oriented with strong integrity

• Familiarity with budgeting or financial reporting

• Students, professionals, and retirees welcome

• Comfortable working independently and remotely

• Bonus: Experience with 501(c)(3) compliance or nonprofit tax filings
