Become a GREEN ENERGY PROMOTER in Off-grid Villages of Uganda

People living in remote communities use unsafe energy options to light their homes and also use wasteful energy cooking options that use alot of firewood to cook in their families. These unsafe and wasteful devices produce too much smoke that results into respiratory diseases among women and girls who spend more time in kitchens. The traditional three stone cook stoves require a lot of firewood and thus force local people to put uncontrollable pressure on existing forests resources for firewood.

Duties as a volunteer may consist of:

• Help in the establishment/ construction of wood saving stoves in a minimum of 10 households in the village you will be working with.
• Demonstrate to families how to effectively use and maintain their stoves.
• You may also help in repairing of damaged stoves in the community together with the beneficiary family.
• Promote the use of safer and renewable energy options like solar among families.
• Help in the installation of solar energy in households and beneficiary schools.
• You may also help in supporting families acquire low cost solar devices.
