Must live within driving distance of Bermuda Run NC even if you don't have driver's license so that bereavement coordinator can work with you on training and may be picked up for events. Please do not apply if you don't meet this requirement. This position is highly needed. Proper candidates will have personal experience with GRIEF and understand the stages of grief (training is provided but having personal experiences cannot be taught). Will be trained in what questions to ask the bereaved client of hospice patient that has died in order to promote openness and navigating the grief journey, but active listening is a major part of this. Calls will be made at specific times over the time frame of the 13-month bereavement program. This needs someone looking for long term remote volunteer work as you really have to develop a relationship built on trust and consistency in this position. Training consists of the 12.5 hours of online self-paced general hospice training and in office or at your home training Bereavement Coordinator until comfortable making calls alone. Also, this Grief Support position will be invited to the volunteer appreciation events and remembrance ceremonies in which attendance will be highly encouraged and appreciated as the remembrance ceremony is a time to meet in person and speak with bereaved you have developed relationships with. Bereavement visits can be completed in place of calls if desired but not required for this position as if bereavement visits are a need of client, the bereavement coordinator will make those.

Must provide photo identification, submit to background check, (if choosing to visit clients in their homes, must provide copy of NC Driver's License and current/updated vehicle license card. Must submit to a tuberculosis test that will need photo of arm taken 3 days posttest to ensure no reaction.
