About Us:
weAFAR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting victims of scams and raising awareness to prevent others from falling prey. Our new Campus Scam Outreach Initiative focuses on helping international and domestic students recognize and avoid scam tactics that often target them in practical way.
IMPORTANT:
This is mission-driven volunteer work, not an internship or resume-placement role. Volunteers should review our public materials before applying.
Role Overview:
We’re seeking a passionate Communications Volunteer to help shape the way we engage students and campus communities. This role is ideal for a communications, journalism, or related field student who wants to gain real-world experience in nonprofit communications and advocacy.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in drafting outreach content (emails, announcements, flyers, newsletters).
- Help shape messaging for campus events and awareness campaigns.
- Work closely with our Campus Initiative team to ensure that communication is culturally sensitive and resonates with international students.
- Contribute to the development of outreach materials that empower students to protect themselves from scams.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong written communication skills with a clear, empathetic tone.
- Interest in social impact, student advocacy, or scam awareness.
- Willingness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
- Comfort working in a remote/virtual setting.
