Description:
Strawberry Creek Lodge is seeking a Tech Support Volunteer to provide technology assistance to residents interested in improving their digital skills. Residents may need support with computer software, file navigation, device settings, basic troubleshooting, digital projects, and other common technology questions.
Sessions may take place weekly or during the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month, depending on volunteer availability and resident needs. Scheduling is flexible and negotiable. Each shift will last approximately 1 to 2 hours and may include 30-minute appointments with residents, depending on the type of support requested.
Reports to:
Volunteer Coordinator and the site’s Service Coordinator
Goal of Position:
To help residents build confidence using technology, troubleshoot common issues, and use digital tools more independently in their daily lives.
Specific Tasks:
- Assess residents’ technology needs and tailor support to their interests and skill levels.
- Provide one-on-one technology assistance with computers, software, file navigation, and common digital tools.
- Help residents troubleshoot basic technology issues and build problem-solving skills.
- Support residents with tasks such as organizing files, navigating programs, adjusting settings, or completing digital projects.
- Follow the resident sign-up schedule or appointment structure provided by the Service Coordinator.
- Manage multiple requests on a first-come, first-served basis as needed.
- Remain patient and supportive of residents with varying levels of technology experience.
- Monitor attendance and ensure that all participating residents sign the sign-in sheet.
- Communicate any material, equipment, or support needs to the Volunteer Coordinator or the Service Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Physical/Age Requirements:
- Able to sit, stand, and move around the room during sessions.
- Able to communicate clearly and patiently with residents.
Skills/Education/Experience:
- Strong general knowledge of computers, software, and common digital tools.
- Ability to explain technology concepts clearly and simply.
- Friendly, patient, dependable, open-minded, and solution-oriented.
- Comfortable assisting residents with varying skill levels and learning needs.
- Prior experience teaching, training, or providing technology support is preferred.
- Ability to speak Korean, Spanish, or Mandarin is helpful but not required.
