    POSITION SUMMARY

    The African Think Tank is currently seeking Regional Director to lead our Charlotte region.

    The Regional Director serves as the senior volunteer leader for their assigned region and is responsible for advancing The African Think Tank's mission, strategic priorities, and community engagement efforts at the regional level.

    This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight for all regional operations, including the Regional Steering Committee, Associate Regional Director, and Regional Community Manager. The Regional Director ensures the successful planning and execution of regional programming, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and networking events while fostering a collaborative, high-performing leadership team.

    As the primary ambassador for The African Think Tank within the region, the Regional Director works closely with the Executive Regional Director to strengthen relationships, expand community impact, and advance the organization's mission across the African Diaspora.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Regional Leadership

    • Lead and oversee all activities within the assigned region.
    • Provide strategic direction aligned with The African Think Tank's mission, vision, and organizational goals.
    • Build a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing regional leadership team.
    • Mentor, support, and develop the Associate Regional Director, Regional Community Manager, and Steering Committee members.

    Leadership Meetings

    • Participate in monthly organizational leadership meetings.
    • Provide updates on regional progress, successes, challenges, and upcoming initiatives.
    • Collaborate with fellow Regional Directors and executive leadership to share best practices and strengthen organizational effectiveness.

    Steering Committee Leadership

    • Chair and facilitate monthly Steering Committee meetings.
    • Establish regional priorities and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
    • Monitor committee progress and ensure timely completion of initiatives.
    • Foster accountability, collaboration, and volunteer engagement across the committee.

    Event Strategy and Oversight

    • Lead the planning and successful execution of monthly networking events and other regional programming.
    • Ensure events align with TATT's mission, brand standards, and strategic objectives.
    • Oversee event logistics in collaboration with the Associate Regional Director, Regional Community Manager, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and partners.
    • Ensure an exceptional experience for attendees, speakers, sponsors, and community partners.

    Community Engagement

    • Serve as the primary ambassador for The African Think Tank within the region.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, businesses, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and sponsors.
    • Identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and community collaborations that advance TATT's mission.

    Strategic Planning

    • Develop regional goals and implementation plans aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Monitor regional performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Ensure regional initiatives contribute to organizational growth, sustainability, and community impact.

    Reporting and Accountability

    • Provide regular reports to the Executive Regional Director regarding regional activities, accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.
    • Monitor regional progress toward established goals and performance metrics.
    • Ensure regional operations adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

    EXPECTATIONS

    Regional Directors are expected to uphold the values, mission, and professional standards of The African Think Tank at all times.

    All Regional Directors must:

    • Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
    • Serve as ambassadors of the organization within their communities.
    • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
    • Successfully complete all required background checks.
    • Attend required organizational meetings and leadership trainings.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    The ideal Regional Director will possess:

    • A passion for community service and the mission of The African Think Tank.
    • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
    • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills.
    • Excellent networking, relationship-building, and interpersonal abilities.
    • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and volunteer teams.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Excellent time management and project coordination skills.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Reliable internet access for virtual meetings and communications.

    COMPENSATION

    This is a volunteer leadership position. No financial compensation is provided.
