Calling All Men: Be the Role Model They Need
Detalhes
Descrição
Young men in foster care—especially teens and young adults—are in urgent need of positive male role models. If you're a man aged 25 or older and live in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, or Brevard counties, you can make a lasting difference in a young life through our Family Partnerships Mentoring Program.
We match caring adult mentors with youth ages 13–23 in foster care. These young men are looking for someone to guide them, support them, and simply show up. You don’t need to have all the answers—just a willingness to listen, encourage, and walk alongside them.
As a Mentor, You Might:
- Help with schoolwork or studying for a driving exam
- Support college or job applications
- Teach budgeting and financial basics
- Offer emotional support and encouragement
- Share life skills and experiences
Mentor Expectations:
- Commit to at least 4 hours per month (ideally 1 hour per week)
- Log volunteer hours regularly
- Complete monthly and bi-annual surveys
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Attend an orientation session
- Maintain minimum state-required car insurance
💡 Note: A $30 fee helps cover the cost of the background check.
Why Male Mentors Matter
Many of our young men have never had a consistent male figure in their lives. Your presence can help them build confidence, set goals, and feel seen. Whether you're a coach, a dad, a professional, or just someone who cares—you can be the difference.
