The VITAS Healthcare HS Intern program offers high school students an opportunity to have a real life employment experience. Students interested in participating in the HS Intern program must complete an application, interview, orientation, background checks, fingerprinting, receive hands on training per job assignment and complete exit interviews at the end of their assignments.
There are two intern options to choose from. HS Interns commit to interning for two 4hr. days a week in the summer program.
Year round interns commit to volunteering during spring break, winter break, holidays, teacher workdays and every second Saturday .
Interns that complete both programs can become an Intern Supervisor the following summer.
Interns receive letters of recommendation and volunteer hours for Bright Future Scholarships.
At the end of the summer program HS Interns have gained entry level administrative skills to enter the healthcare industry or any entry level administrative position. They will also receive a letter of recommendation, a report with their intern hours for school or scholarship programs and an opportunity to return as an HS Intern supervisor the following summer.
