Kitchen (STRONG NEED FOR HELP) - The Salvation Army on Maple Street in Akron

The Salvation Army is seeking weekday kitchen volunteers to assist with meal preparation and service. Volunteers help support our community programs that serve individuals and families in Akron.

Hours:

🕘 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

📅 Monday–Friday

We are happy to work with your schedule to find days that fit your availability.

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting with assembling tin meal containers for delivery to our Community Centers in Akron
• Serving the public in our gym in a cafeteria-style setting
• Wiping down and sanitizing the kitchen and volunteer areas
• Folding towels for our kitchen and shower programs
• Preparing supplies for our hot meals outreach program

This role does not require heavy lifting, though volunteers may need to be on their feet at times while completing tasks. There is also downtime during the day.

There may also be opportunities to cross-train in other areas, such as our food pantry or passing out meals at off-site locations on other days, if the volunteer is interested.
