Join the high-impact volunteering movement and make a real difference on your next trip abroad!
SEVA Travelers partners with community-based organizations across Rwanda — from Kigali to Nyanza and Musanze — that are creating meaningful social, environmental, and humanitarian impact. These placements allow volunteers to contribute their expertise in fundraising, grant writing, and strategic communications while supporting initiatives in conservation, animal welfare, education, and community empowerment. Volunteers will work directly with dedicated local leaders who are building systems for sustainability and long-term development in Rwanda’s rapidly growing nonprofit sector.
These vetted and verified NGOs include:
Dufatanye Organization – Nyanza, Rwanda
Dufatanye Organization promotes community development and self-reliance through agriculture, vocational training, and education. Their programs focus on building food security, empowering rural families, and improving livelihoods. Volunteers will assist in developing grant proposals, strengthening marketing strategies, and improving program storytelling to attract funders. There are also opportunities to deliver training sessions on skills development, donor communication, and community outreach.
Empower Develop Dignify (EDD) – Kigali, Rwanda
Empower Develop Dignify (EDD) focuses on advancing human dignity through education, leadership training, and economic empowerment. The organization is seeking support to prepare a comprehensive fundraising strategic plan and raise funds to sustain its programs. Volunteers will help design this plan, identify donor prospects, and strengthen the organization’s internal fundraising systems. Additional opportunities include mentoring staff on proposal writing and helping structure a long-term financial sustainability roadmap.
Partners for Conservation – Musanze, Rwanda
Partners for Conservation (PFC) connects environmental preservation with community well-being. Located near Volcanoes National Park, the organization aims to construct a community learning center that empowers local residents to participate in conservation and sustainable livelihood programs. Volunteers will support donor mapping, develop individual fundraising plans, and create communication materials that tell the story of conservation-driven community transformation. There’s also opportunity to assist in proposal writing, strategy design, and partnership development.
Welfare for Animals Guild (WAG-Rwanda) – Kigali, Rwanda
WAG-Rwanda is the country’s only registered dog rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming organization. Their work supports humane population management, public health (rabies prevention), and community education. The organization is currently expanding plans to develop Rwanda’s first Center for Humane Dog Population Management. Volunteers will help strengthen WAG’s fundraising systems, write grant proposals, and build donor relationships. They will also assist in improving monitoring and evaluation systems (MEAL), digital storytelling, and outreach to international partners and foundations.
Each of these inspiring organizations has identified its unique capacity-building goals and consulting needs.
