Support Your Local Spawners (Salmon) @ South Prairie Creek Preserve - Join PCD's Feb. 21 Work Party!

Join Pierce Conservation District for a volunteer work party at South Prairie Creek Preserve on Saturday, February 21st, from 9 AM - 12 PM as we remove invasive plant species from critical salmon habitat. During the winter, we have a wonderful opportunity to dig out root balls and reduce invasive plant species competition while the ground is workable. We have planted over 46,000 tress and shrubs over the last 20 years at the Preserve, and invasive plant species control is a necessary task to give these native plants the best conditions for survival.

What To Expect:

• Uneven terrain, wet and/or muddy ground.
• Parking is limited. Please try to carpool with others in your party, if possible.
• A porta potty is available on site.

What To Bring:

• Dress for success - Event will happen rain or shine, so please check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly:
  • Layers are encouraged (long pants and sleeves)
  • Close-toed, water-resistant shoes (rainboots work swimmingly)
  • Rain jacket
• Full, reusable water bottle
  • A refill station will be available.
• Personal gloves and tools
  • PCD will have ample loaner tools and gloves available, but you may bring your own gloves/tools if you wish.
