ONG (Setor Social)
Director of Marketing & Communications @ Statistics Without Borders
Detalhes
Descrição
Why does the role exist?
Statistics Without Borders (SWB) does excellent work, yet almost no one outside the organization knows it. Our public presence doesn't reflect the quality of what we do: our website is dated, our branding is inconsistent, and our story doesn't reach organizations that should be coming to us for help.
This role exists to change that: to make Statistics Without Borders visible, credible, and clearly understood by the people and organizations we want to reach, so that our reputation matches our work and more high-quality clients find their way to us.
What is the scope of this role?
You'll own marketing, branding, and communications (internal and external) for Statistics Without Borders. You’ll take an existing team of ~5 volunteers, lead them, and build this team over time.
You’ll also sit on the SWB Executive Committee and contribute meaningfully to strategic SWB work that extends beyond marketing and communications.
What does success look like in the next 18-24 months?
- SWB has a credible, current public presence that attracts prospective clients. Our brand is coherent and consistent wherever it appears.
- Our volunteers can articulate and communicate what SWB does, and our impact, in a way outsiders immediately understand.
- We are significantly increasing our number of client engagements per year. To support this, we are using data to inform our strategy around which demand generation channels to pursue, which prospect development approaches are working, which communications drive conversion, and more.
- Marketing and communications run on a sustainable footing that doesn't depend on any single person, including this one.
Who are we looking for?
We care more about how someone thinks than about a particular marketing CV.
Essential
- Sound grasp of marketing and communications fundamentals. You will be able to set priorities and build a coherent marketing function from first principles.
- Ability to lead, recruit, and scale an all-volunteer team remotely and across time zones. You and your volunteers will generate demand for SWB, identify leads, produce content, build a consistent SWB presence across social media, and innovate.
- Strong analytical instinct. You are comfortable with data and evidence and you’re skeptical of vanity metrics. You’re an excellent data storyteller with the ability to make the impact of marketing efforts clear to a leadership team without marketing expertise.
Valued
- You have previous experience leading business development (B2B), content creation, or demand generation teams.
- You enjoy meeting and building relationships with prospective clients or partners.
- You're comfortable experimenting and being honest about what isn't working.
- You have experience building or rebuilding a brand and visual identity.
- You have direct experience in a resource-constrained environment, perhaps working with not-for-profits, NGOs, and/or all-volunteer organizations.
