Volunteer Online Tutors for ESL

Tutors Change Lives is seeking compassionate, reliable volunteers to serve as Online ESL Tutors for adult English learners. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy helping others, value cultural exchange, and want to make a positive impact in their community.

As a volunteer tutor, you will support adult learners as they build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English. No formal teaching background is required — we provide training, materials, and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging, conversational English practice sessions
• Support learners in developing communication and literacy skills
• Use provided curriculum and learning tools
• Encourage and motivate students in a positive learning environment
• Provide constructive feedback to help students grow
• Collaborate with program coordinators as needed

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

• Experience tutoring or teaching ESL (helpful but not required)
• Familiarity with online learning tools (Zoom, Google Docs, etc.)
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Multilingual skills are a plus, but not required

Requirements

• Fluent in English
• Available to work in any time zone in the United States
• A patient, encouraging, and respectful attitude
• Interest in helping adult English learners succeed
• Reliable internet access and a computer with a camera
• Basic comfort using Zoom and Google Docs
• Willingness to volunteer at least 2-3 hours per week (more welcome if desired)
