Saint Therese of Corcoran- Memory Care Visitor Volunteer

Saint Therese Memory Care Resident Visitor Volunteers provide consistent, supportive companionship to the residents of Saint Therese to support social interaction and enhance their day.

Responsibilities

1. Visit with residents, reminisce, and provide social interactions.
2. Read to residents, write letters, and assist with other communication needs.
3. Engage residents in other activities such as playing cards and going for walks.
4. Provide consistent, supportive companionship to residents.

Abilities Required

1. Interest in developing ongoing relationships with residents.
2. Good interpersonal skills.
3. Able to use technology such as iPads to facilitate reminiscence through images, maps, music, etc.
4. Self-directed and able to volunteer with minimal supervision.
5. Able to push wheelchairs safely throughout the facility and property.
6. Able to locate the resident’s name and room number to transport them back to their room.
7. Have a good understanding of state laws protecting vulnerable adults and reporting mandates.
8. Able to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
9. Able to follow infection prevention and control procedures to minimize risk of disease transmission and maintain health and safety of residents, staff and volunteers.
