Care for Salmon Habitat at South Prairie Creek Preserve - Join PCD's May 30 Work Party
Detalhes
Descrição
Join Pierce Conservation District for a volunteer work party at South Prairie Creek Preserve on Saturday, May 30th, from 9 AM - 12 PM as we spread mulch and remove invasive plant species from this critical salmon habitat. The spring and summer is a great time to mulch around installed native trees and shrubs. Mulching is an important task we perform at SPCP because it helps preserve water for plants in the summer heat, provides a source of organic matter to enhance soil health, suppresses weed growth, and offers insects a home. We have planted over 46,000 tress and shrubs over the last 20 years at the Preserve, and need your help to create the best conditions for our local flora.
What To Expect:
- Uneven terrain, wet and/or muddy ground.
- Parking is limited. Please try to carpool with others in your party, if possible.
- A porta potty is available on site.
What To Bring:
- Dress for success - Event will happen rain or shine, so please check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly:
- Layers are encouraged (long pants and sleeves)
- Close-toed, water-resistant shoes (rainboots work swimmingly)
- Rain jacket
- Full, reusable water bottle
