Our High School Specials Programs are designed specifically for teenagers and are international volunteer projects that are service-oriented. This program was created in 2008 and came out of our interest in making a program geared to high school students interested in volunteering. Our High School Specials are a group of four projects that have facilitated an abroad experience for over 300 youth from across the globe to assist on service projects in Ghana.
High School Specials are structured specifically to take into account the needs and potential issues facing less traveled volunteers who are younger. We modified our programs to take full advantage of youthful optimism and energy in order to accomplish real goals.
Our High School Specials are open to teenagers who are full-time students and aged 15-19 years old. Every project is structured with weekend excursions, evening activities, observational work, hands-on service, and sessions of teaching. These programs typically last from two to four weeks so that volunteers will be able to maximize their time and to really earn a community service credit or as a noteworthy part of a college application.
Safety & Supervision for High School Volunteers
Our staff that work on our High School Specials are well-prepped and experienced with caring for younger volunteers who are in need of a support system, a safe environment, and a structured regimen (with some flexibility for excursions). We created a comprehensive timetable for volunteers.
Our Professional Staff will take care of volunteer daily as volunteers work side-by-side to accomplish project goals. Volunteers visit historical sites and enjoy cultural activities during weekends and evenings.
Volunteers who join this program will not be left alone and will be kept safe. Volunteers go back to host families in groups of two or more volunteers with each family. Volunteers may even stay in a dorm that is managed by our staff for certain projects. Volunteers will room with fellow volunteers of the same sex and approximate age.
This engaging program will provide volunteers with an amazing opportunity while still receiving support. Volunteers can further explore their independence by joining some of our other programs in the evenings and weekends.

You must be 18 years or over at the start of the program. For these who are 15 – 18 years old, we will need to receive consent from your parents via email or telephone before we can offer you a placement on one of our programs.
You must be able to speak English.
You must at least have a high school education if you want to perform formal teaching activities to the local communities.
Medical placement volunteers must have relevant medical training and certification (to be presented on arrival in Ghana).

- Once you’re sure of your plans, secure your spot by paying the deposit fee of US$200.
