A hospice volunteer plays a vital role in our agency, and in the lives of our patients and their caregivers.
Our patients have been diagnosed with a life expectancy of six months or less. They are cared for in their homes, assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Below are some examples of what a direct patient care volunteer does:
- Sit with patients so their caregivers can run errands and take a break
- Visit nursing home patients who have expressed a desire to chat with someone
- Check on a patient who lives alone
