Volunteer Opportunity: Companion & Dog Support Visitor (In‑Person)

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable volunteer to provide companionship and light pet‑related support to an older adult living in assisted living in West Seattle.

About the Situation

• • The participant has recently transitioned from living with family to assisted living
  • This transition has been challenging, and additional companionship would be very meaningful
  • The participant has a dog who becomes anxious and destructive when left alone

Volunteer Role

• • Provide friendly companionship through conversation and presence
  • Offer light support involving the dog, such as:
  • Sitting with the participant and dog
  • Helping keep the dog calm and engaged during visits
  • Support emotional well‑being and ease the adjustment to a new living environment

Volunteer Preferences

• • Comfortable around dogs
  • Patient, calm, and dependable
  • No gender preference
  • Visits can be flexible (weekly or bi‑weekly ideal)
