Become a literacy volunteer!

Become a Volunteer Literacy Tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America, Essex and Passaic Counties and help adults improve their English language and literacy skills.

Volunteer tutors work with small groups of 3-5 adult learners for at least 2 hours per week, either in person or online. Tutors complete a 10-hour virtual training course (5 sessions, 2 hours each) before being matched with students.

No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteers come from many different professional and personal backgrounds and support adult learners including immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and U.S. citizens.

Requirements:
