Currently the Manor/Esplanade area and Manor bluff are one of Pacifica’s locations most in need of some love! Overlooking magnificent cliffs, magical sunsets and frequent visits by ocean life invite overnight campers. Strong winds swirl litter from the Post Office and Manor shopping center. Esplanade Beach is a natural, relatively untouched and narrow shoreline experiencing erosion below Esplanade Avenue at West Manor Drive.
About the Cleanup:
Time: 9am - 11am
Where to Meet: Meet at the top of the stairs on Esplanade Avenue next to Lands End Apartments.
Parking: Street parking only along Esplanade Avenue. There are no parking lots in the area. If it’s a great surfing or fishing day, you may find parking up on Palmetto Avenue (one block walk from the cleanup site).
Cleanup Areas: We’ll focus on the beach, bluffs, Coastal Trail parklet to the south, and the nearby streets, where lots of litter and debris collects before the wind blows it into the ocean. Our goal is to pick it up before that happens! When the tides allow and the trail down to the beach is not too steep, we may also attempt to clean Esplanade Beach.
Supplies: Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own buckets and reusable gloves. Extra gloves, buckets, and specific tools for this site cleanup will be provided while supplies last. The weather is changeable: make sure to bring extra layers, a hat, sunblock, water, and snacks.
Rain may cancel cleanup. If you’ve registered in advance with the Google Form, you’ll receive a cancellation notice. If you have not registered, check our website's calendar for the latest information.
