    Descrição

Title: Photographer / Social Media Expert - Traveling Volunteer

Open to any Photographer or Social Media Expert willing to travel with VfAW to Tanzania to help implement our animal-welfare education projects on the ground.

About Voices for Animal Welfare (VfAW)

Voices for Animal Welfare (VfAW) is an international NGO bridging Europe and Africa to give a voice to animals and empower communities. Through legal advocacy, education, veterinary support, and the arts, we unite volunteers, experts, and advocates to create sustainable, culturally inclusive change in animal welfare. Our global team shares one mission: a more humane world for animals and people.

    Role Summary

    Type: 100% volunteer, unpaid

Hours & Time Off: Up to 25 hours/week; flexibility required; two fixed days off per week

Location: Arusha, Tanzania (open to international applicants)

Start / Travel Needs: January 2026 (travel timing may vary; shorter stays, staggered rotations, and remote collaboration before/after the field period are possible). We recruit traveling volunteers year-round; our current priority is candidates who can travel between January and May 2026.

Commitment: Minimum 1 month (ideally 3 months)

Language: Proficiency in English is required.

Costs: Approx. €300/month for accommodation, food, and local transport. No fees are charged by the NGO for this role. Flights and visa are at your own expense. Subject to grant approval, accommodation may be covered (reducing monthly costs). Tanzania’s cost of living is low compared to Europe, and affordable flight options are available.

    Position Overview

You’ll document our education and outreach work and help turn field moments into impactful content. The role blends ethical photo/video capture, light interviewing, and optional social media support.

    Main Tasks

    • Field documentation: Record video and photo coverage of team activities, school sessions, community outreach, and relevant veterinary work (non-clinical capture only).
    • Story capture: Photograph stray animals, community interactions, and program moments; gather short clips suitable for reels and stories.
    • Interviews & quotes: Conduct brief, consent-based interviews with locals, volunteers, and community leaders for digital storytelling.
    • Behind-the-scenes: Create backstage/“day in the field” content to humanize our work.
    • Content pipeline (optional): Assist with planning, drafting captions, basic edits, and scheduling posts.
    • Organization & handoff: Curate, label, and transfer media with clear folders/filenames and basic shot notes.

    What You Bring

    • Flexible, proactive attitude; comfortable with last-minute changes in a diverse, cross-cultural team.
    • Proven experience as a photographer or social-media content creator.
    • Visual-storytelling skills
    • Outgoing, strong communicator; punctual and reliable with deadlines.
    • Alignment with VfAW’s goals and values (ethical, community-led animal welfare).

    What You’ll Gain

    • Meaningful impact with an international NGO.
    • Cross-regional collaboration (Africa–Europe).
    • Professional growth, portfolio development, and global networking opportunities.

    Safety & Duty of Care

VfAW is committed to your wellbeing. Before travel, volunteers receive safety and cultural orientation covering local context, health guidance, emergency procedures, and key contacts. On arrival, you’ll receive an in-country briefing and ongoing coordination support. We also provide guidance on insurance, vaccinations, and any registration requirements, and we maintain clear protocols for incident reporting and emergency response.
