Welcome to the Ssamba Centre, a community resource and empowerment centre located in the rural village of Luvule, Kyampisi Subcounty, Mukono District, Uganda.

Operated by the Ssamba Foundation, the Centre exists to create opportunities that enable vulnerable families to build brighter, healthier, and more sustainable futures.

We believe that meaningful change begins with strong families. Through our flagship Familia Moja Initiative, we work alongside local communities to empower women, improve household livelihoods, strengthen food security, increase access to clean water, and promote environmental stewardship.

About the Familia Moja Initiative

The Familia Moja Initiative is the flagship community transformation program of the Ssamba Centre.

Rather than providing short-term assistance, the initiative partners with vulnerable families over time, helping them develop sustainable livelihoods and improve their quality of life.

Our approach is built around a simple belief:

Strong families build strong communities.

Beginning with the First 10 Families, the initiative provides practical support through women’s economic empowerment, food security, sustainable agriculture, clean water, and environmental conservation.

The Ssamba Centre serves as the demonstration and learning hub where families, volunteers, and community members come together to share knowledge, develop skills, and create lasting opportunities.

Ways You Can Contribute

Every volunteer brings unique skills, experiences, and interests.

Rather than assigning volunteers to fixed projects, we match each person with activities that best support the Centre’s priorities and community needs.

Depending on your interests and experience, you may contribute to:

Women’s Empowerment

Support vocational skills training, entrepreneurship, small business development, financial literacy, and women’s empowerment activities.

Sustainable Agriculture

Help establish demonstration kitchen gardens, promote climate-smart farming practices, and support household food production.

Construction and Centre Development

Assist with painting, landscaping, light construction, maintenance, furniture making, gardening, and improving community facilities.

Environmental Conservation

Participate in tree planting, environmental education, rainwater harvesting, recycling initiatives, and community clean-up activities.

Community Development

Support community outreach, family visits, workshops, events, youth engagement, and local initiatives that strengthen community participation.
