    This opportunity will benefit the volunteer by offering experience in building AI-powered solutions within a mission-driven, agile organization. As an AI Specialist, you’ll gain hands-on experience designing and deploying intelligent agents and automated workflows that directly impact nonprofit operations and housing innovation. You’ll sharpen your skills in prompt engineering, backend development, and automation tools, while contributing to meaningful, real-world use cases. This role is ideal for someone looking to expand their portfolio of applied AI projects while working alongside a multidisciplinary team focused on social impact and innovation.

    Your contributions will directly support LandSeed’s ability to secure the funding necessary to develop and sustain our housing programs and community initiatives. By applying your expertise in grant writing and proposal development, you will help increase our organizational capacity, strengthen partnerships, and open doors to new funding opportunities. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring our mission is carried forward effectively and sustainably.

    Description of the Role

    The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, researching, and applying for funding opportunities from government bodies, foundations, and other grant-making organizations. This role involves developing persuasive proposals and business cases that align with LandSeed’s mission and program goals. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, attention to detail, and experience in creating successful funding proposals, ideally within the North American context.

    Department/Team: Development & Fundraising

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with LandSeed’s mission and programs.
    • Write and submit high-quality proposals, business cases, and funding applications.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant information, data, and stories for proposals.
    • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, reporting schedules, and submission requirements.
    • Ensure all proposals meet funder requirements and are submitted on time.
    • Track application outcomes and maintain records for future reference.
    • Support the development of donor communications and funding reports as needed.

    Required Experience/Skills

    • Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives.
    • Proven research skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).

    Great to Have, Not Required:

    • Experience writing business or grant proposals in North America (highly valued).
    • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector and housing or community development programs.
    • Knowledge of funding databases and grant research tools.
    • Prior success in securing funding from foundations or government agencies.

    Desired Years of Experience: 1–3 years in grant writing, business proposal writing, or related fields.
