About ETIV

Join ETIV, a Brazilian non-profit organization with over 10 years of experience empowering children and young people in the coastal town of Itacaré, Bahia.

Recognized as a Ponto de Cultura by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, ETIV provides free educational and cultural programs in English, science, technology, chess, arts, environmental education, sports, and reading.

Our impact:

• 450+ children and teenagers reached
• 100+ international volunteers hosted
• 35+ local and international partnerships
• 2 national awards for literacy and science education

Your Role

As a volunteer, you will support our local educators in creating fun, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences. Volunteers complement the work of our Brazilian team—they do not replace local teachers.

Depending on your skills and interests, you may:

• Support English classes
• Help with homework and reading
• Assist chess, arts, science, and STEM activities
• Participate in educational games and workshops
• Help organize community fundraising events
• Assist with preparing and serving meals for the children
• Help keep shared spaces clean and organized

Schedule

Educational activities take place Monday to Friday, mainly in the afternoons.

Mornings are generally free, giving you time to study Portuguese, work remotely, surf, or explore Itacaré.

Weekends are completely free for travel and discovering the incredible beaches, waterfalls, and nature of Bahia.

Requirements

• Experience teaching or working with children or young people
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Interest in education, community development, or environmental conservation
• Basic Portuguese (or willingness to learn)
• Personal laptop
