New Jersey Angels believes that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in a child's life, and one of the ways we hope to do that is through our Dare to Dream program. Our Dare to Dream program matches mentors with youth in care aged 11-22 to navigate life's challenges together, providing advice, encouragement, and a supportive community. We believe that the simple act of telling a mentee "I believe in you," "You are special," and "You are going to do great things" can transform their journey entirely. Mentors meet both practical and emotional needs, guiding their mentees through tailored developmental milestones.
We have 1 male youth in Prospect Park that is waiting to be matched with mentors in our Dare to Dream program! This awesome 15-year-old has a big love for pizza, sneakers, and spending time outdoors, especially playing basketball with his friends. While he may be shy and quiet at first, once he’s comfortable, he’s full of conversation and energy. He’s thinking about a future in engineering and would really benefit from a mentor who can help him stay focused on school and work toward his goals.
Having a strong male role model in his life would mean a lot to him-someone he can look up to, talk to about sports, and trust for guidance. He’s looking for a mentor who can help him set goals, stay accountable, and become more responsible, all while encouraging him to build positive friendships and make good choices.
Reach out today to make a difference in the life of a youth experiencing foster care.
