FIUTS, the Foundation for International Understanding Through Students, is a nonprofit dedicated to building connections across cultures through student leadership, shared experiences, and community engagement. Since our founding in 1948, we have worked toward a vision of a globally connected community rooted in the Puget Sound region, where relationships are grounded in friendship, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to peace.
Like many organizations, FIUTS has been through a period of real challenge and change. Today, our Board of Trustees is focused on strengthening the organization and building a more stable future. At the same time, the need for connection and understanding in our communities has only grown. We need thoughtful, engaged leaders to help carry this work forward.
Our Board of Trustees plays a central role in that effort. This group of community leaders brings energy, perspective, and a strong belief in the power of citizen diplomacy.
Each summer, FIUTS invites 4 to 6 new trustees to join the board. Trustees meet every other month and serve on a committee that meets in alternating months. They also take part in several events throughout the year and support fundraising and program efforts.
