    Answer the Call: Clinical Nurse - Phone Support Volunteer!

    Do you have a wealth of clinical knowledge and skills you’d love to share? Volunteering at LVIM, where we provide free high-quality, comprehensive healthcare to the medically underserved, might be just what you need!

    Join a team of like-minded medical professionals who share your passion for helping others. With their patient-centered listening skills, our dedicated Clinical Nurse - Phone Support volunteers assess the health concerns of our patients over the phone and determine the appropriate level of medical care needed. These amazing individuals collaborate with our care coordination team to streamline the delivery of focused, high-quality care for our busy providers.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Perform health assessments by engaging in patient-centered communication through open-ended questions, active listening, and soliciting patients’ areas of concern and expectations.
    • Assess the urgency and severity of patient conditions to determine the appropriate course of action.
    • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and assessment outcomes.
    • Accurately relay important patient information to the attending provider for timely and efficient medical decision-making.

    Qualifications

    • Certified/Licensed LPN or RN.
    • At least one year experience with direct patient care.
    • Superior verbal and listening skills.
    • Strong typing and computer ability necessary to document information gathered during a telephone conversation.
