Seeking Bilingual Volunteers to visit Hospice Patients (all languages)

Hospice of the Valley serves patients in Santa Clara County that reside in their home or a nursing home.

Are you bi-lingual and looking for a rewarding experience? This might just be the opportunity for you.

To become a hospice volunteer at Hospice of the Valley the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book, helping create a scrapbook, and as needed, offering support, providing relief for the family members and caregivers. Volunteers do not provide clinical or personal care, but can provide social visits to a patient, or give the caregiver a little break, or time to rest. Volunteers can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. Volunteers can also assist with routine tasks and errands.
