We are looking for people who want to use their skills to fight for democracy!
US-BASED APPLICANTS ONLY AT THIS TIME
Who We Are Unruled Masses (UM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public-interest intelligence organization focused on exposing corruption, abuse of power, and systemic exploitation. Our mission is to foster equitable, connected communities where systemic barriers are removed and everyone is treated as a true equal.
We believe hopelessness is a strategic asset for oppression, and hope is a strategic resource for liberation. We combine rigorous intelligence tradecraft with community education and real-world civic action to help people move from disengaged bystanders to connected activists. We aren't just exposing what's wrong; we’re building the infrastructure to make it right.
Who You Are You are a professional, a student, or a specialist who refuses to sit on the sidelines. You are disciplined, motivated by justice, and believe that your specific "day job" skills can be a powerful weapon for the public good.
Whether you are a lawyer, a coder, a storyteller, or an organizer, you believe that careful evidence matters and that a healthy democracy requires active, strategic participation. You value collaboration and are ready to apply your expertise to help reclaim institutions and rebuild community trust.
What You’ll Do As a General Volunteer, you will be matched with projects that align with your professional background and our current mission needs. You will:
- Contribute to the Civic Intelligence System: Help us build, refine, and populate our Abuse & Corruption Library and Nonviolent Action Playbook.
- Support Organizational Resilience: Assist with the "behind-the-scenes" work—from finance and legal compliance to fundraising—that keeps a 501(c)(3) powerhouse running.
- Tell the Story: Create content that translates complex corruption patterns into clear, hopeful, and actionable narratives for the public.
- Build the Infrastructure: Use tech, data, or marketing skills to expand our reach and connect isolated individuals into a unified pro-democracy front.
- Foster Equity: Ensure our outreach and tools are accessible to all, prioritizing the voices of those most impacted by systemic corruption.

- Fundraising & Development: Grant writing, donor relations, and crowdfunding strategy.
- Content Production: Video editing, graphic design, writing, and podcast production.
- Research & Analysis: OSINT, investigative journalism, and policy research.
- Finance & Accounting: Nonprofit bookkeeping, financial modeling, and auditing.
- Law & Advocacy: Civil rights, constitutional law, and regulatory compliance.
- Technology & Data: Software engineering, AI/ML, data visualization, and cybersecurity.
- Community Building & Human Rights: Field organizing, workshop facilitation, and civic engagement.
- Marketing & Communications: Social media strategy, PR, and brand storytelling.
Ideal Qualifications
- A deep commitment to democracy, equity, and human rights.
- Strong professional or academic background in your respective field.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, structured environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Familiarity with (or a desire to learn) public-interest intelligence and nonviolent action strategies.
Compensation & Commitment This is an unpaid volunteer role. We are flexible on time commitments but ask for at least 2–5 hours a week to maintain momentum on our core projects. As a newly minted 501(c)(3), we are growing quickly; as funding allows, paid positions may be offered to standout contributors in the future.
