The Concord Library is currently recruiting two teen volunteers for our new Homework Help program. This is a great opportunity for teens to give back to their community and earn community service credit. All prospective volunteers will be interviewed by the branch's volunteer coordinator, Sabrina. Orientation and training will be provided.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Concord Library staff, volunteers will provide homework assistance with math, reading, writing, or other subject areas requested by students in grades K-6th. The goal of homework help is to provide the assistance needed so that students will succeed in their academic endeavors and at the same time receive positive reinforcement to improve self-esteem and motivate the desire to learn.
Examples of duties include using student homework or textbooks to assist students on either a one-on-one basis or in small groups with homework and provide instruction on the use of the catalog and computer resources.
