Reach out. Become a mentor in Covington.
The Covington Mentoring Program at Holmes Middle and High Schools matches adult volunteers with 6th- through 12th-grade students. Mentors meet with students once a week during the school day (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Mentors listen, support, befriend, and encourage local youth.
The relationships help students, who often will show improvements in school attendance, academic achievement or behavior.
A one-year commitment is required. Background checks are required of all volunteers. One-on-one training is provided with a program coordinator before volunteer starts to meet with student. On-site program coordinator is available for on going support.
