The Food Pantry Volunteer will help provide essential food assistance to low-income individuals and families, with a focus on serving the elderly population in our community. Volunteers will play a key role in ensuring the efficient distribution of food, assisting clients with dignity and respect, and supporting the overall operations of the pantry.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Unload and sort food donations, organizing items for distribution.
⦁ Assist with packing and distributing fresh produce and pantry staples to clients.
⦁ Manage the distribution line to ensure smooth and fair service.
⦁ Provide friendly and compassionate assistance to individuals receiving food.
⦁ Maintain a clean and orderly pantry area.
⦁ Follow all safety and food handling guidelines.
⦁ If bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese), assist in translating for non-English-speaking clients (preferred but not required).
Qualifications:
⦁ Must be at least 16 years old.
⦁ Ability to lift moderate to heavy items (10-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
⦁ Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population.
⦁ Willingness to follow directions and work as part of a team.
⦁ A heart for serving the community and treating clients with kindness and dignity.
Schedule & Time Commitment:
When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to commit to at least one shift per week.
