Volunteer Flag Football Coach, Head Coach and Assistant Coach

Help young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game by volunteering with Cosumnes Community Services District's 2026 Fall Flag Football League!

Our recreational league serves youth ages 5–14 in a fun, participation-based environment where sportsmanship and skill development come first. No scores are kept so the focus is on learning, teamwork, and having fun. Volunteer coaches make this program possible, and every additional coach helps us welcome more children into the league.

What You'll Do

• Lead or assist with one weekly practice and one weekly game.
• Teach flag football fundamentals in a positive, encouraging environment.
• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusion.
• Communicate basic schedule updates with parents.
• Head coaches organize practices and maintain team rosters, while assistant coaches help support practices and games.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 2–3 hours per week from late August through mid-November 2026.
• Attend most weekly practices and games.
• Complete required preseason onboarding, including:
  • Coaches Meeting
  • Coach Training/Clinic
  • Background check and Live Scan fingerprinting (provided at no cost)
  • Required coach training and certification

Qualifications

We're looking for volunteers who are:

• At least 18 years old
• Dependable, patient, and enthusiastic
• Comfortable working with children and communicating with parents
• Interested in creating a fun, safe, and supportive team environment

Football experience is preferred but not required. Experience working with youth is a plus. Parents, former athletes, college students, and anyone passionate about youth sports are encouraged to apply. Training, mentorship, equipment, and staff support are provided throughout the season.
