Ceramic Studio Assistants provide meaningful support to the cermaics programs offered at Sirovich, vital to keeping our classes open to the community.
We are seeking volunteers to commit to at least three months of supporting one consistent class a week.
Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Morning) or 1:30 - 4:30 PM (Afternoon), in-person.
Prior experience with ceramics is required. To volunteer in this role, you must have a knowledge of working with clay (including hand-building, wheel-throwing, and glazing techniques). We are in search of folks comfortable guiding and assisting participants with varying skill levels.
During classes, tasks will include assisting students with their ceramic projects and learning general techniques, such as joining seams, using molds, and smoothing rims. Volunteers will also assist class instructors with responsibilities such as studio upkeep, material organization, ensuring students sign in, and helping students by accessing supplies and answering questions.
