Unofficial NURSING/MEDICAL/HEALTHCARE "Internship" – HOSPICE VOLUNTEER - Cherry Hill, NJ
Detalhes
Descrição
So, you are at college... And you are pursuing studies in healthcare.
Well, you don’t have to wait for an internship to have access to visiting patients.
Being a Hospice Volunteer will grant you experience interacting with (very) sick people.
You will NOT be doing any procedures or counseling sessions, with our Hospice patients, but you will get comfortable in being in a healthcare-like setting, as most of our patients are in a facility, and through steady visiting, you will pick up skills in engaging patients.
If you, as a freshman or sophomore, want to gain this experience before your real internships start, please consider becoming a Hospice Volunteer now. (Don’t get me wrong, we welcome juniors and seniors, too.)
This is something that you can do in conjunction with your book studies, and it can be as little as 2 hours a week. You will need to commit to being consistent with your visiting, even during exams, but visits can be done (almost) at any time, but they can definitely be done on any day: during the week and/or on weekends.
You should have access to transportation.
Ideally, you can continue with visits for at least a school-year, to experience different patients with different end-of-life diseases. And if you go to school, near where you live, that is even better, so you can continue in the summer.
Onboarding to become a Hospice Volunteer can be involved, so reply to this post and I’ll send you those details; this way you can make an informed decision about getting involved.
