Conflict Resolution Volunteer (Mediation Program)
Position Summary
Volunteer Mediators support the mission of the Outagamie County Conflict Resolution Center by helping individuals navigate and resolve conflicts in a constructive, respectful, and confidential manner. Volunteer Mediators facilitate structured conversations between parties in dispute, helping them communicate effectively, identify underlying issues, and explore mutually acceptable solutions.
This role is ideal for individuals interested in conflict resolution, communication, community engagement, or pursuing careers in mediation, social services, or law.
Key Responsibilities
- Mediate conflict resolution sessions between individuals/Organizations (e.g., neighbors, families, small claims, evictions etc)
- Maintain neutrality and avoid taking sides or offering advice
- Guide participants through a structured mediation process
- Promote respectful communication and active listening
- Help parties identify issues, interests, and possible agreements
- Complete required documentation accurately and confidentially
- Participate in ongoing training and skill development opportunities

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Willingness to learn and follow a structured mediation model
