Clothing Volunteer with the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, Chardon, OH

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment:

1. Sort clothing from donations. We receive countless bags of donated clothing every week, and sorting donations to find items we are able to sell is essential. Sorters check for soil, tears, or other disqualifying properties and then arrange items in bins.
2. Price items effectively for sale. Following set standards for pricing is essential for our goal in raising money for the American Cancer Society. Pricing items correctly ensures items will sell and that we are getting the most benefit from the sale. Pricers should also be able to identify higher-end or designer brands and price accordingly.
3. Hang clothes on sales floor. We take great pride in the appearance and organization of our store, and those who hang our clothes are a big part of that. Hangers should put out clothing according to size and color, empty the fitting room rack periodically, and pick up dropped clothes and broken hangers from the floor.
4. Detail-oriented, people person, follows standards, dedicated, diligent, organized, attentive, flexible, willing to learn

Who will be served by this assignment? Our customers will be served by having a positive experience shopping in the store, and the money raised from correctly priced and displayed clothing ensures that we continue raising even more money for the American Cancer Society.

What specific skills will the volunteer need? Standing for potentially long periods (not required, stools available), walking, dexterity, good eyesight, lifting small to heavy bags of clothing (no one is required to lift what they are not comfortable with)
