Champion the organization’s work by advocating for its mission and supporting its strategic goals.

Ensure UPI’s work is relevant, effective, and aligned with the needs of the community.

    Leadership & Support:

Serve as a mentor or advisor to UPI’s leadership team in your area of professional expertise.

Provide guidance on organizational development, programmatic strategies, and community partnerships.

Participate in the hiring process for executive leadership and support board recruitment and evaluations.

    Time Commitment:

Board members are expected to commit approximately 5 hours per month, including attending virtual quarterly meetings, virtual committee participation, attending in person organizational events 1-2 times a year, and supporting fundraising and advocacy efforts.

    Financial/Fundraising Commitment:

There is a give/get of $5,000 that each board member is responsible to either give to UPI or fundraise for UPI annually.

    Skills & Experience:

Strong commitment to UPI’s mission and values.

Experience in governance, strategic planning, and/or non-profit leadership.

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
