Who We Are

Saved Souls Foundation is a registered non-profit animal charity in North Eastern Thailand, founded in 2010. We shelter over 350 dogs and 26 cats — rescued from abuse, the streets, the illegal dog meat trade, or simply abandoned with nowhere else to go. Among them are approximately 35 special needs dogs, paralyzed or amputated after road accidents, or living with blindness. We are one of the very few shelters in Thailand that opens its doors to disabled animals, because we believe every soul deserves a chance.

With only 8 keepers for over 300 animals, our staff is stretched beyond capacity. Volunteers are not optional — they are the backbone of the care we provide.

Your Responsibilities

• Daily care: Clean enclosures, wash bowls and feed 350+ dogs and cats every morning alongside our staff
• Socialization & training: Spend time with dogs and cats of all temperaments — from playful and friendly to fearful and shy. Practice basic lead training and commands to improve their chances of adoption
• Special needs care: Help our paralyzed and disabled dogs exercise using donated wheelchairs, assist with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions in our dedicated therapy pool
• Health monitoring: Act as an extra pair of eyes — report any changes in behavior or signs of illness to our vet team immediately
• Content creation: Photographers, videographers and social media enthusiasts are encouraged to capture shelter life and share content to boost our visibility and adoption rates

What We're Looking For

This is rewarding but genuinely demanding work. Loving animals is essential — but it's only the starting point. We need volunteers who are:

• Independent and proactive — your daily schedule will largely be unsupervised after initial training
• Resilient — able to remain calm in emotionally difficult situations involving sick or injured animals
• Open-minded and flexible — we operate with limited funding and may not do things the way you expect
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a hot, humid environment
• Willing to get dirty — grooming, cleaning, muddy trail walks and more are all part of the job

Requirements:

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Good physical health and energy
• Basic English communication skills
• Minimum commitment: 2 weeks
• Valid travel insurance (mandatory)
• Recommended vaccinations before arrival: Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Rabies — please consult your doctor
