JoyRx Volunteer Musician

Interested in volunteering with kids and teens in a hospital setting? We are currently looking for volunteers to join our JoyRx Music program!

JoyRx Music draws on the universal power of music to energize and lift spirits. Our staff musicians help children find joy during the stressful and painful experiences related to extended hospitalizations and treatments for life-threatening illness.

Our music volunteers are a critical piece of this program, filling hospital lobbies and hallways with music. This truly transforms the hospital environment for kids, families, and staff from the moment they enter the building.

To be eligible for volunteering you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Commit to at least six months of volunteering.
• Commit to one shift per month (specific days and times).
• Be able to play two hours of music repertoire (looping one hour is acceptable).
• Be sensitive to the hospital environment and able to play music appropriate for all audiences at a low volume.
• Complete a thorough screening and paperwork process to ensure you can be a healthy, safe, and responsible volunteer.
