Join Twiga Vision’s Communication & Events Program in Arusha, Tanzania, and contribute to the visibility and outreach of a grassroots NGO working in women’s empowerment, childcare and community development. Volunteers collaborate with local staff to create content, manage communication tools and organize events that amplify Twiga’s impact and voice.
Your Responsibilities
- Document ongoing programs through photos, videos, interviews and written content
- Support social media and blog updates to engage local and international audiences
- Co-organize awareness campaigns, fundraising events or community-based activities
- Design communication tools (flyers, infographics, reports) based on your skills
- Collaborate with the team to improve visibility and internal communication
Qualifications
We’re looking for volunteers with skills or interest in communication, media, event planning or design. Relevant profiles include:
- Students or professionals in communication, journalism, media or marketing
- Creatives (photographers, videographers, graphic designers, content creators)
- People experienced in event planning or community outreach
- Self-taught individuals with strong motivation and basic skills in these fields
We value adaptability, creativity and cultural sensitivity more than formal qualifications. Each mission is co-designed with the Twiga team based on your profile and the organization’s needs.
Important Details
- Location: Arusha, Tanzania
- Duration: Minimum 1 month
- Start: Year-round arrivals (flexible)
- Language: Basic English required
- Working schedule: Monday to Friday, ~9AM to 4PM (flexible)
- Orientation Day: Held the day after arrival
What We Offer
- Ongoing support and supervision by Twiga’s team
- Cultural immersion with host families or independent housing
- Weekday lunch included (other meals vary by housing choice)
- Optional Swahili lessons
- Airport pickup from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
- A structured, ethical framework — no voluntourism, no white saviorism
Costs
- One-time registration fee: $80 (includes airport pickup and orientation day)
- Weekly program fee: $15 (includes weekday lunch, support and project contribution)
- Accommodation options:
- Host Family: $70/week (includes private room, towels, breakfast, dinner, lunch on weekends, drinking water)
- Independent Housing: ~$110/week (meals and utilities included)
