About the Summit

The OpenGov Africa Summit 2026 (https://summit.opengovafrica.org/) is the inaugural edition of a five-day gathering running October 20 to 24, 2026, with a Physical Hub in Lagos and a parallel Virtual Hub for global participation. The Summit brings together government leaders, innovators, and institutions across nine tracks spanning governance, digital infrastructure, climate, finance, health, enterprise, human capital, and culture. It closes with the OpenGov Africa Awards Night on October 24. Attendance is free for students.

OpenGov Africa Summit 2026

Organization: OpenGov Africa (a summit convened by The Commons Co)

Location: Virtual Participation via daily office hours (3hours daily)

Type: Volunteer, part-time

Commitment: Now till end of Q1 2027, with flexible weekly hours

The Role

We are looking for volunteers to join the Sponsorship & Partnerships team ahead of the Summit. This team supports the outreach, coordination, and stewardship work behind the Summit's sponsors and institutional partners.

You will help with:

• Researching and building prospect lists of potential sponsors and partners
• Supporting outreach communications and follow-up scheduling
• Tracking sponsor and partner commitments and deliverables
• Coordinating logistics for partner-facing materials and benefits
• Assisting with day-of sponsor and partner support during Summit week

You are a good fit if you:

• Are organized, responsive, and comfortable with independent follow-through
• Have an interest in partnerships, business development, fundraising, or nonprofit relationship management
• Communicate clearly and professionally in written English
• Can commit a few hours a week, with availability increasing closer to October
• Are available in Lagos for parts of Summit week, or able to support remotely if not

No prior events experience is required. This is a strong opportunity for anyone building experience in partnerships, sponsorship, or nonprofit operations, and wanting to contribute to a first-of-its-kind Pan-African convening.
