About Space of Hope Foundation for Human Rights (SOHF)
Space of Hope Foundation for Human Rights (SOHF) is a registered Iraqi non-profit organization based in Mosul, Ninewa. Our mission is to promote human rights, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), child protection, youth and women's empowerment, social cohesion, and sustainable community development.
As a newly established organization, we are building strong institutional systems and expanding partnerships with national and international organizations. We are looking for a passionate and experienced international volunteer who wants to make a meaningful impact by helping strengthen a local NGO serving vulnerable communities across Iraq.
Position Overview
The Grant Writer & Strategic Partnerships Advisor will work directly with the Executive Director to strengthen SOHF's fundraising capacity, develop competitive project proposals, and expand strategic partnerships with international donors, foundations, UN agencies, and humanitarian organizations.
This is a remote, pro bono volunteer opportunity for professionals who are committed to supporting locally led humanitarian and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify relevant funding opportunities from international donors and foundations.
- Lead the development of high-quality Concept Notes and Project Proposals.
- Support proposal design, logical frameworks, work plans, and project budgets.
- Review and improve existing proposals before submission.
- Provide strategic advice on fundraising and donor engagement.
- Help establish partnerships with NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, academic institutions, and philanthropic organizations.
- Share knowledge and mentor SOHF staff in proposal development and donor compliance.
- Contribute to the organization's long-term sustainability strategy.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- At least five years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, business development, or partnerships.
- A strong track record of developing successful funding proposals.
- Excellent proposal writing and editing skills in English.
- Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, or international donors.
- Knowledge of donor requirements, proposal design, and project development.
- Existing professional networks within the humanitarian or development sector are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Time Commitment
- Fully remote.
- Flexible schedule (approximately 5–10 hours per week).
- Preferred commitment of at least three months.
