    Audio Engineer / Production Tech - Volunteer Role

    About Us:

    The Donovan’s Venom is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on curating universal accessibility to fine arts and music education for all.     Location: Atlanta, GA | In-Person Production Required

    We’re looking for a hands-on volunteer Audio Engineer / Production Tech to help ensure every production sounds polished, professional, and technically reliable.

    This role will own key aspects of microphone setup, piano and instrument audio, live monitoring, recording, troubleshooting, and technical backup systems. You’ll work closely with the Show Producer, Director of Photography, performers, and production team to deliver high-quality audio for live and recorded productions.

    What You’ll Do

    • Set up, test, and operate microphones, audio interfaces, mixers, monitors, and recording equipment.
    • Manage microphone placement and audio levels for hosts, performers, guests, and speakers.
    • Set up and manage piano, keyboard, and other instrument audio.
    • Monitor audio quality throughout rehearsals, recordings, livestreams, and productions.
    • Adjust gain, levels, EQ, routing, and monitoring to maintain clear and balanced sound.
    • Record and capture high-quality audio for live and post-production use.
    • Identify and troubleshoot feedback, interference, distortion, connectivity, and other audio issues.
    • Perform pre-production sound checks and technical testing.
    • Create and maintain backup audio and recording solutions to protect against technical failures or lost recordings.
    • Coordinate audio requirements with camera, video, streaming, and production teams.
    • Organize and maintain audio equipment, cables, microphones, and related production technology.
    • Help establish repeatable audio standards, technical checklists, and production procedures.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience with audio engineering, live sound, recording, music production, broadcasting, events, or multimedia production.
    • Working knowledge of microphones, mixers, audio interfaces, monitoring, recording, and signal flow.
    • Experience capturing vocals, dialogue, piano, keyboards, or musical performances.
    • Strong ear for sound quality and attention to technical detail.
    • Ability to troubleshoot audio and production technology quickly.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively in a live production environment.
    • Dependable, organized, and able to prepare equipment before production begins.
    • Must be located in or near Atlanta, Georgia and available for in-person rehearsals and productions.
