Volunteer Opportunity: Community Giving Volunteer
Location: Administrative Office
Time Commitment: 1–2 hours per week or on an as-needed basis, depending on campaign schedules
Reports To: Community Giving Director
About the Role
The Community Giving Volunteer supports donor outreach and fundraising efforts through thoughtful communication and hands-on assistance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, helping behind the scenes, and contributing to meaningful community-based fundraising without the need for technical systems or formal presentations.
Volunteers in this role play an important part in helping donors feel informed, appreciated, and connected to our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Community Giving Volunteers may assist with the following activities:
Donor Communication Support
- Make thank-you and stewardship phone calls to donors using provided talking points.
- Assist with follow-up calls related to campaigns, events, or giving opportunities.
- Help prepare donor communications such as letters, postcards, and seasonal mailers.
Mailing & Campaign Support
- Assemble mailers including stuffing, labeling, and organizing envelopes and inserts.
- Support preparation for fundraising campaigns and appeals, including Colorado Gives Day and annual appeals.
- Assist with organizing materials and supplies for donor outreach.
Fundraising Event Support
- Help prepare materials for fundraising events.
- Provide on-site support as needed, such as greeting guests or assisting staff with logistics.
Community Outreach Assistance
- Research local businesses and community groups that may be a good fit for outreach or partnership.
- Gather basic contact information for staff review.
- Identify community calendars or bulletin boards where giving opportunities could be shared.
Administrative & Project Support
- Organize donor thank-you supplies and outreach materials.
- Assist with light administrative tasks related to community giving efforts.
- Support short-term or time-sensitive projects during peak fundraising periods.
Skills & Qualifications
- Enjoys communicating with others by phone, email, or in person.
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable following provided guidance.
- Interest in community engagement, fundraising, or nonprofit work.
- Able to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with donor information.
- No prior nonprofit or fundraising experience required. Training and support will be provided.
