The Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on HR Data & People Analytics Specialist to help us build the foundation of our HR data infrastructure from the ground up.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order from chaos, building systems using free tools, and translating people data into actionable insights.
You will play a key role in designing and maintaining our HR database, reporting structure, and data workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain a centralized HR database using Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Forms, Drive)
- Design and track HR metrics and dashboards (e.g., retention, engagement, volunteer lifecycle)
- Create automated reporting using advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Develop and document HR data processes, workflows, and SOPs
- Partner cross-functionally with leadership (People, Operations, Program teams)
- Leverage free AI tools to improve efficiency (automation, data cleanup, reporting)
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across systems
- Recommend scrappy, cost-effective solutions to improve HR data capabilities
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with Advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (especially Sheets, Forms, and database-like structures)
- Experience building or managing HR data, people analytics, or reporting systems
- Ability to create a “Google-based database” (relational thinking, structured data)
- Experience documenting process flows and workflows
- Familiarity with free AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Notion AI, Airtable AI, etc.)
- Strong collaboration skills; ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable in a scrappy, startup-style environment with limited resources
- Self-starter who can build from scratch without heavy oversight
Nice to Have
- Experience in nonprofit or volunteer organizations
- Exposure to HRIS systems (even if informal or self-built)
- Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (Looker Studio, Tableau Public, etc.)
Why This Role Matters
You will help us build the backbone of our HR infrastructure, enabling smarter decisions, better volunteer experiences, and scalable growth.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience building an HR data function from scratch
- Ownership and visibility working directly with leadership
- Opportunity to create real systems with real impact
- Skill-building in people analytics, automation, and AI tools
- Strong professional references and network expansion
How to Apply
If you’re excited about building scrappy, high-impact systems and using data to drive people decisions, we’d love to hear from you.
