Are you passionate about art, retail, or the history of space exploration? Join our volunteer team and help create a warm, memorable experience for museum visitors from around the world.

As a Museum Shop & Visitor Services Volunteer, you’ll be one of the first people our guests meet. You’ll welcome visitors, answer questions, assist with purchases, and help connect guests with the museum’s exhibits, programs, and events. Whether you’re recommending a unique space-themed gift or sharing information about an upcoming astronomy night, your enthusiasm will help bring the museum experience to life.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome Visitors: Greet guests, answer questions, and provide friendly, attentive service to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
• Assist in the Museum Shop: Help visitors select books, artwork, educational materials, souvenirs, and other space-themed merchandise.
• Support Merchandising: Keep the shop attractive and organized, replenish merchandise, and contribute ideas for displays.
• Serve as a Museum Ambassador: Share information about exhibits, educational programs, workshops, astronomy nights, and other special events.
• Help with Daily Operations: Use basic computer and point-of-sale systems to process purchases and respond to visitor inquiries.
• Answer Calls: Provide a helpful and welcoming first point of contact for guests who reach the museum by phone.

What We’re Looking For

• A friendly, dependable person who enjoys meeting and assisting others.
• An interest in space history, art, museums, retail, or education.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage comfortably with people of all ages.
• Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn museum procedures.
• Retail or customer service experience is helpful, but it is not required. A positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning matter most.

The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers may contribute a few hours or several days each week, depending on their availability.
