    Descrição

    Medical Volunteering in Tanzania

    Summary

Art in Tanzania helps small community clinics in the villages and larger hospitals. Tanzania needs professional medical staff. Assisting in developing healthcare can also provide valuable experience working in a country with limited medical facilities.

    Details

Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as a fantastic natural environment and diverse wildlife.

Art in Tanzania's community medical support team works in Dar es Salaam. In the Madale village medical support program, we can combine small village clinics with a larger hospital to provide comprehensive care.

Medical programs include clinical and Public Health placements.

The public health program focuses on educating and supporting village communities in various areas, including nutrition, sports and exercise, art therapy, sustainability, and other relevant fields.

Typical hospital clinical work placement includes:

    1. Internal medicine
    2. Paediatricians
    3. Obstetrics
    4. Gynaecology
    5. Emergency
    6. Radiology
    7. Laboratory
    8. Ambulance
    9. Psychiatry
    10. Psychology
    11. Orthopaedicic
    12. 1Ent
    13. Pharmacy
    14. CTC

Tanzanian pharmacists fall short of Western standards. Specifically, small village pharmacies need training and advocacy to develop their prototypes.

The medical program also includes HIV/AIDS counselling, advocacy, testing, and events to raise awareness.

The internship outcome is to apply your studies and experience in a developing country setting.

Work hours are- -8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having run since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.

We typically have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as various professions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1-13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation with breakfast and dinner, the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

The airport transfer is EUR 60 one-way and is a personal expense.

A charity visa for immigration, which costs USD 50, is a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250.

We pay interns a USD 50 monthly stipend, which is small but 2x Tanzania's national minimum wage.

    Flights are a personal expense.

Local transport, if any, is a personal expense.

Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the Tanzania training.
