As a 501 Science is Elemental's mission is to improve science education by fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the scientific process among all high school graduates, through starting or improving science education in the early grades. In particular, SIE seeks to bring hands-on, integrated workshops to students who do not yet show interest or aptitude in the sciences. In addition, SIE supports teachers, and seeks to introduce what scientists do to young children.

Role Description

This is a volunter role for a Board Member located in anywhere in the U.S.. The Board Member will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s mission and goals are met efficiently. Responsibilities include attending regular board meetings, participating in fundraising activities, and assisting in policy formulation and oversight. The Board Member will also engage with various stakeholders to build and maintain relationships that support the organization's objectives. We are very interested in people with fundraising experience.

Qualifications

Note: No one person would be expected to have all or even most of these qualifications.

• Knowledge of and/or experience in the K-12 education space in the U.S.
• Experience in strategic leadership and governance
• Knowledge of fundraising and resource development
• Understanding of educational policies and science curriculum
• Commitment to the mission and values of Science is Elemental
