Volunteer tech tutors help College Hill library patrons one-on-one with using computers, tech devices like smartphones and tablets, mobile apps, and general internet navigation. Patrons can bring their own devices or use a library’s public computer alongside the tutor.
Tech tutors will work with patrons who attend the weekly drop-in program on Sundays for up to 30 minutes at a time. A short tech help training will be provided to all volunteers by the College Hill program coordinator. Tutors can volunteer weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
Qualifications
Intermediate knowledge of the use of computers and portable electronic devices. Ability to convey knowledge to beginner-level participants.
Commitment Requirement: 3 Months for Weekly/BiWeekly volunteering, 6 Months for Monthly volunteering
Training provided: Initial training with the CH program coordinator and observing other volunteers during the Tech Help program.
Evaluation: After a month, the Program Coordinator gives feedback. The coordinator also provides feedback after the end of the initial commitment (3-6 months, depending on frequency of volunteering).
